Exhaustion

The holidays are here! :D

I finally went to Seremban yesterday after Chem. I don't even know the name of the mall that we went to. :P After a hearty lunch, we watched Law Abiding Citizen. When the movie started and the title flashed on the screen, I told Karyn how boring the title sounds. But you know what people say about not judging a book by its cover. Likewise, don't judge a movie by its title. It is an intense movie. Its plot has twists and turns that baffle at first, then amaze. As I've mentioned before, I'm not big on action movies but I'm beginning to see why some people love them so much.

Law Abiding Citizen portrays a man, Clyde, (Gerard Butler) who is out to seek justice and reform the legal system after his wife and daughter were murdered by two men, one of whom, Darby, managed to walk free as a result of Clyde's lawyer's deal with the murderer. Driven by the memories of his family and the mental torture that he had to endure for 10 years, Clyde formulated a detailed plan to bring down the legal system. His targets are those who had worked on the case. His plans were so intricate and baffling that no one knew that he was killing people from inside his prison cell. He also seemed fixated on trying to teach his once-lawyer, Nick (Jamie Foxx) how to do his job "the right way".

Being the mastermind that he is, Clyde managed to take down most of his targets. But, in the end, Nick and two other men managed to unravel his plans and get him back. The final scene shows Clyde detonating a bomb that he had set for the city hall. But the three men had already transported the bomb to his prison cell, so when he triggered the timer, he actually blew himself up. The end of the movie is actually quite sad because so many people had been sacrificed in Clyde's plan to destroy the "flawed system" and he ended up dying in his quest, holding the bracelet that his daughter had made for him. I guess in the end it all boils down to his love against the vengeance he had against the system that went too far. All in all, I'd say that this is quite a thought-provoking movie and is worth a watch.

Anyhoo, after coming out of the cinema with a slight headache (I'm starting to think that I'm either a tad averse to the darkness and loudness of the cinema or my eyesight is deteriorating), we headed to Aunty Aini's for dinner. I kinda regret having the chicken chop now because I think all the fried stuff might be getting to me. Add on to that the fact that after I came back, already quite tired, I resumed my seemingly endless packing session. I acquired two new boxes and figured, okay, I can do this - I CAN DO THIS! But the packing session concluded with twice the amount of papers to be recycled and a three-hour chat with Beng Yen. For the first time in 2 weeks, I turned in for the night at 3.15 am.

And now, I have a headache and my body feels exhausted. Awesome. I can't believe I subject myself to this torture every time a semester ends. Now my eyes are droopy, my limbs heavy, my head thumping, but I have to keep myself alert because my room still looks nothing like what a proper bedroom should look like. I've got so many miscellaneous items that I don't know where to store! ARGHHHHH. I feel so tempted to just swipe them off the desk into a container or box without sorting through them.

I think I'll just nap in the bus on the way to church. I need sleeeeeeeeep.

Taking a breather in the city

I had the whole day free to do anything I please today. So my shopping partner and I headed off to 1Utama with the guys and a car. Do you know how happy we are to venture into civilization every once in a while? :P

Lunch and dinner were mediocre. My first Italiannes experience could have been better, I guess, but I ended up forcing myself to finish up my plate of spaghetti because the tomato flavor was getting really overwhelming. Remind me not to eat anything tomato-related for the next week or so. A Carls Jr burger made for a quick dinner. Also a first for me as the only thing I'd ever tried in Carls Jr before this is the wedges. All in all, not the best meals I'd had outside, especially between shopping walks, but they were alright la.

We watched Surrogates after lunch. It is an okay movie, in my opinion. The parts with a lot of action were exciting and intense. But there were a few confusing parts when one character acted in several roles. Go watch it and you'll get what I mean. Not being a fan of action movie may make my views slightly biased, but I think it isn't anything to shout about. You get to see Bruce Willis acting as a depressed, frustrated man who plays out his life as an FBI agent through his surrogate. And everyone else is just as fake because no real humans are actually going out of their homes to live their lives on their own. Instead, they just sit at home in their pajamas and control their surrogates. It's kinda creepy, actually. My rating is a 3/5.

We did plenty of walking but much less buying than I'd expected. I forgot to buy a brush for my broken lipstick. :( And I originally wanted to get a new ring but I just couldn't find one/a bunch that I liked. We entered so many stores but ended up empty-handed. What is this la... On the other hand, it didn't make me feel so guilty for splurging on another pair of jeans. This is the last pair I'm buying this year. (Yeah, two more months to this year, and I say this.. Heh) But I can justify! :P Dorothy Perkins stocks reasonably priced jeans that fit me, so buy I say. :D

So that wraps up today. I actually have a lot of other things to mention, like the orchestra concert that I attended two weeks ago, but there are some things that need to be done at the moment.

Have a great weekend, everyone! :)

Liberation

It is FINALLY over. Semester 2 final examination, I mean. WOOHOOOOOOO!

Yesterday morning was the blah. I stayed up till 2.45 am and woke up at 6.10 am. I couldn't have been more astonished myself. But thanks to a proper breakfast and some willpower, I made it through the paper fine. :)

Afterwards, everyone dallied around a bit and then off we went to MidValley. We had a hearty meal at Kenny Rogers thanks to the belanjawans who treated us. :D After that, we girls had some quality window-shopping time before catching Confessions of a Shopaholic. The movie was nice. There's nothing much to shout about it but it was a good watch. Plus, we all just really wanted to savor whatever freedom we have.

After that, it was just more walking and buying. Contributing to GDP never felt better. *happy sigh* I realized how fast my purse was thinning when I was thinking of buying something and then saw a RM50 note peeking out. Aih. Money - easy come, easy go, isn't it?

Anyhoo, upon going through the things I'd purchased, I realized that I actually bought more practical than fun stuff. I mean, necessity, track pants, and insect repellent vs some light-colored eyeliner, a pair of feather earrings, and a gift for a friend? I didn't even get to buy the nail polish that I wanted. And I completely forgot about the analgesic cream and food stock that I need. Must buy them later. :/

All throughout the time we were walking around MidValley, I had a strange feeling. I kept on thinking, isn't there something I should be doing right now? I think I've been in my mugging mode for too long that when I'm finally free to do anything I want, I feel weird. AIHHHHH.

Now I have a headache and an irritating flu. Ah, the repercussions of coming back at 12.30 am and watching another movie till 3.15 am. But What Happens in Vegas was so worth it! Ashton Kutcher made me dream of some random hot guy last night. Ah, le sigh. :P

I should probably go downstairs to chuck my laundry load into the dryer now and see if those two girls downstairs are awake so we can go feed our stomachs. Laters.

Guess who's back..?

I'm back in Nilai. The holiday surely seemed way too short. *sigh* :( Anyway, I enjoyed my holiday a lot. I pigged out every day and loved every moment I could do it. Hehe..

I was supposed to meet up with Connie and have dinner somewhere near her place on Friday evening, but we ended up meeting a bunch of our former classmates for a movie and dinner. It was really nice being able to meet them again after all this while. I didn't see many of my former classmates when I went back for my SPM result, so it was nice meeting them on Friday. :) 5 of us watched:

The whole movie is so cute! I think RM9 is a little too much to pay for it (or is it now the normal price in Kuching?), but, oh, well, the cuteness kinda makes up for it. I'd recommend you to watch it, but do bear in mind that you can probably guess the whole plot from the opening scene to the end. :p It's nice feeling like a kid again, though. And the whole awkward crush thing going on between Wall-E and Eve (or "Eeeeevaaaa") is kinda charming too.

After that, we met another bunch of our friends waiting outside the cinema hall. We headed over to McD for dinner, but few of us actually ate something. I got myself a measly-looking McChicken with too-salty fries. Ish. A couple of pictures from Friday night:

With Christina

My flight was delayed for half an hour last night and there was a bratty kid onboard who FAKE cried the whole way through. OH, HELP ME. He was sitting with his parents not too far away from my aisle seat. I couldn't sleep a wink on the flight. Came back, made two trips up to my floor because I couldn't carry both my heavy bags at once, unpacked and put everything in place in about half an hour (I think it's a personal record for me.. oh, yay.. *sigh*), slept at about 12.30 am with a slight headache. I've got a slight ache in my shoulders from carrying my luggages. As my friend who took the same flight as I did last night so rightly said, I "pindah rumah". Haih.

I guess that's all from me now. I've got a headache and I don't feel the Panadeine I took working for me. *sigh* Next update when I'm feeling better.

PS: I'd feel a lot better if the air fare drops from RM700-900 to the normal rate of below RM300 for a return trip to Kuching during the Raya break. *sigh* Or else, Ding, can we PLEASE GO TO SINGAPORE? :p
